QUESTION OR COMMON OBJECTION:
How is the Bible the Word of God? Wasn’t it written by men?
CATHOLIC ANSWER:
Men did write the Bible, but God is the true author because the Holy Spirit inspired them. The human authors of the Bible wrote what God desired them to write and no more.
… when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God….”
1 Thessalonians 2:13
“The Holy Spirit inspired them” does not mean the writers were simply word processors. They were individual authors. That’s why the gospels often tell the same story in different ways.
