QUESTION OR COMMON OBJECTION:

Why do Catholics teach things that are not in the Bible?

CATHOLIC ANSWER:

Not everything God wants us to believe is plainly spelled out in the Bible. For example, the word “Trinity” isn’t there. That is also the case for other truths.

There are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”

Although a teaching may not be plainly stated in the Bible, nothing the Catholic Church teaches contradicts the Bible.
