The month of May is, by tradition, celebrated as “Mary’s Month” in the Catholic Church. Though there are many feast days honoring Our Lady under her many titles and virtues, the month is reserved as one especially given to her praise. It is appropriate then, on this Mother’s Day weekend, that we reflect on Mary, the Mother of God; for she models more than anyone Christian Motherhood. As Venerable Fulton Sheen illustrates, Mary’s greatness lies in her humility – as an instrument of God’s will – reflecting the brilliance of her son, Jesus Christ, who is the Light of the World for the human race.
Our Blessed Mother is like a magnifying glass that intensifies our love of her Son.
– Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen
Mary, Our Blessed Mother, pray for us.
Be not afraid! And may the peace of Christ be with you and your loved ones today and always. Holy Family pray for us. Amen.
