Wit & Wisdom | St. Francis of Assisi: Light Overcomes Darkness

Watermark Small

All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.”

Saint Francis of Assisi

Peace Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

The Saint Francis, before the cross Praying by Guido Reni

While you are proclaiming peace with your lips be careful to have it even more fully in your heart.”

Saint Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi, Instrument of God’s Peace, pray for us.

Be not afraid!  And may the peace of Christ be with you and your loved ones today and always.  Holy Family, pray for us.  Amen.
